MATERIALS & MAKING
Every material has a job to do.
We choose materials for the way they will be touched, used, maintained and lived with. Appearance matters, but it cannot stand in for suitability.
Chosen by Role
The outside of a pet bed, the sleeping surface, the internal protection and the foam foundation do not perform the same task. We evaluate them separately before considering how they work together.
A material may be visually appealing and still be wrong for repeated companion-animal use. Another may be practical but fail to create the form, hand-feel or presence the product requires. Selection begins by defining the job, then testing whether the material can do it.
Contact Surfaces
Surfaces used by companion animals require particular attention. We consider texture, temperature, friction, hair and debris, repeated contact and the cleaning method appropriate to the final construction.
The first-bed materials remain under review. We will not describe a surface as pet-safe, non-toxic, washable, waterproof, scratch-proof or environmentally preferable until the relevant supplier documentation and testing support that statement.
Complete Cover Construction
The exterior, interior, bolster surfaces and sleep surface are being developed as one complete interchangeable cover.
That makes pattern accuracy, seam placement, closure design and reassembly part of the product experience. A cover must do more than fit once in a sample room. It must preserve the intended proportions of the complete bed and be understandable to the person caring for it.
Final replacement instructions will be published after the complete system has been tested by ordinary users.
The Internal Foundation
OlaAspen Duobase combines a PU foam support layer with a memory foam comfort layer. The final layer split, density, firmness and protective construction are still being validated.
Foam specifications will be tied to the approved production version. We will not transfer a claim from a generic material sheet to a complete product without confirming that it applies.
Zips, Seams and Replaceable Parts
Details that receive little attention in a photograph often determine how a product is owned.
We review the placement and accessibility of closures, the load placed on seams, the way edges hold their form and which components can be serviced or replaced. Each detail should solve a real problem; none should exist only to create the appearance of complexity.
Testing Before Language
Our public care and performance information will follow the evidence, not precede it.
Before a final material story is published, we expect to document:
- supplier composition and construction information
- the approved colour and finish
- cleaning and care tests relevant to the final cover
- repeated assembly and removal of the complete cover
- seam, zip and shape observations from complete samples
- the country of manufacture and applicable component origins
- limitations customers should understand before purchase.
Claim less. Prove more.
Final material names, compositions, origins and care instructions will be added when the first production specification is confirmed.
