ORIGIN STORY
OlaAspen — The Architecture of Breath.
"I Built What I Couldn't Find."
Some brands are born from opportunity. OlaAspen® was born from frustration.
- Australian-owned. Designed in Sydney.
- Performance First. Built for HYROX, running, and recovery.
- Global Reach. Ships daily from Australia to the world.
The problem was personal.
For over a decade, I managed allergic sinusitis the way most people manage conditions they've learned to live with — saline rinses, antihistamines, regular visits to a specialist, and the quiet acceptance that some days, breathing just feels like work. Surgery was recommended. I chose to keep looking for another way.
When a family member sent me nasal strips from Amazon, I was hopeful. What arrived was a lesson in how little the industry cared.
The first ones looked like wound dressings. The next ones had no real lift — they flattened within the hour. Others used adhesives that left my skin red and raw. And then came the worst one. After a single night's use, the skin across my nose bridge broke down completely. For two weeks, I couldn't face people without feeling self-conscious.
I wasn't just frustrated. I was angry. How was it possible that in a world of precision engineering and premium design, no one had built a nasal strip worth wearing?
The answer was always the same: cost.
I pulled apart every market leader I could find. The best-selling brands, the most-reviewed products, the strips that athletes swore by. Underneath the marketing, the story was identical — materials compromised to hit a price point, adhesives chosen for margin rather than skin safety, spring mechanisms that looked functional in the packet and failed in real life.
The industry had decided that "good enough" was good enough. I disagreed.
Ten months. Seven versions. One standard.
I founded OlaAspen® in Sydney with a single non-negotiable: every detail had to earn its place.
The spring mechanism went through multiple configurations — single band, double band, varying tensions — before the Triple Flex-Spring™ Core emerged as the answer. Three independent lift points, calibrated for consistent airway opening through sleep, training, and everything in between.
The adhesive took longer. It had to be latex-free (non-negotiable for sensitive skin), strong enough to hold through sweat and movement, gentle enough to remove without damage. The answer was a German-sourced adhesive — tested to the standard we demanded. Skin-safe. Latex-free. Built to last the night.
The fabric had to breathe. It had to sit flush against skin without looking clinical. We chose AeroWeave™ — a matte-finish, featherlight material that moves with your skin, not against it. No shine. No bulk. Nothing that announces itself like a bandage.
Before we finalised the design, we put every version in front of real people — friends, runners, marathon athletes, boxers, HYROX competitors, and strength trainers. People who push their bodies and know exactly what "good enough" feels like when it fails them mid-session or mid-sleep. The feedback shaped every final decision. When they stopped noticing the strip was there — that's when we knew we had it.
Seven prototypes. Ten months. The version that didn't compromise.
The mouth tape came from the same question.
If we were solving breathing at night, we had to solve it completely. Mouth tape was a category full of the same shortcuts. But the design challenges were different — and in some ways, harder. Coverage area had to be precise enough to work, but the centre had to remain open. Not as an afterthought. As a deliberate engineering decision — a precision safety vent that gives the wearer complete peace of mind, both physically and psychologically. Sleep is already vulnerable. The last thing it needs is doubt.
We tested every shape. The four prototypes you see in our development photos represent weeks of decisions about millimetres — how wide, how curved, how the vent sits, how the edges meet skin. Six fabric colours were tested before we chose the one that balanced performance with the aesthetic standard OlaAspen® demands.
The result — SoftSilk™ construction, a precision central safety vent, the same German-sourced adhesive. A soft-touch material that sits against your lips with zero friction — comfortable enough to forget it's there, secure enough to trust all night.
Why OlaAspen.
Ola — a greeting. An opening. The first breath of something better.
Aspen — the founder's name, and a tree known for its resilience: roots that run deep, that survive what others don't, that stand quietly strong in conditions that would flatten something less considered.
The name was never meant to be explained. It was meant to be felt.
The vision.
OlaAspen® is built to become Australia's defining performance breathing brand — and eventually, a global standard for what this category can be when aesthetics, safety, and engineering are treated as equally non-negotiable.
We're not here to be the cheapest option. We're here to be the one you reach for when you've tried everything else and realised that the details actually matter. For every person who has ever struggled to breathe freely through the night.
Breathing, refined.
The Non-Negotiables
AeroWeave™ & SoftSilk™
Two purpose-built fabrics — one for nasal strips, one for mouth tape. Matte-finish, featherlight, and designed to sit flush against skin without looking clinical. No shine. No bulk.
German-Sourced Adhesive
Secure hold for overnight wear and 90-minute sport sessions. Latex-free and skin-safe — designed to respect the skin barrier while refusing to let go under sweat and movement.
Triple Flex-Spring™ Core
Three independent lift points calibrated for consistent airway opening. Seven prototypes. Ten months. The version that didn't compromise. Built to perform. Designed to disappear.
